| New legislaton for dioxin and dioxin-like compounds

On 19 december the EU commission directive 2002/69/EC has been
replaced by the EU commission regulation
No 1883/2006. This document is applicable for the regulation of dioxin and
dioxin like PCB's for foodstuffs.
On the first page in paragraph 5, it says that a screening method should
be used to select samples with a significant level of dioxin and dioxin-like
PCB's. In Annex II, article 1 monitoring with a screening method selects
samples which are 25% above or below
the maximum level. In Annex 1, article 4.3 specific provisions are set for the sampling of fish.
On 1 march the EU commission
regulation No 466/2001 will be replaced by the EU commission regulation No 1881/2006.
